The impressive Acanthus designed by Morris in 1874 is one of his most instantly recognisable designs and marks the beginning of a period in which Morris created large-scale designs for wallpaper.  With typical complex layering and vigorous curves the scrolling acanthus foliage produces a three-dimensional effect and now also comes in some beautifully understated hues  expertly balanced to appeal to our more modern tastes.

Dearle and inspired by the much earlier Fruit wallpaper. Available in four colourways including one on a stunning metallic ground this gorgeous design shows birds amidst branches of foliage and pomegranate fruits.

Compton was designed by John Henry Dearle in 1895 specially for Compton Hall in Wolverhampton the home of Laurence Hodson. The original design required two sets of wood blocks to print all 28 colours owing to the large vertical repeating pattern but has since been scaled down and adapted for a wider audience. Compton is still a popular wallpaper and is also available in a printed cotton.

William Morris - Daisy

Redesign in 2011

Bredd 52.0cm: (20.5")
Mönsterpassning: 30.5cm (12.0")
Längd 10 m/Rulle (393,7"

Daisy was the first wallpaper to be produced by Morris & Co. Inspired by mediaeval illustrations Morris designed Daisy after embroidering daisy motifs on wallhangings for his home Red House. This version retains the naively drawn daisies and ranunculuses of the wallpaper but has been simplified by the removal of background tufts of grass and is available in two original colourways from the Morris & Co. Archive.
